You can now read my co-authored opinion piece, “For well-being and science, chip in with nature observations”, published by the Portland Press Herald in July 2025. I had the privilege of writing with Georgia Murray, a staff scientist for the Appalachian Mountain Club, and Theresa Crimmins, director of the USA National Phenology Network. I’m crowing about this piece because of the joy and well-being I derive from slow and steady (aka careful and long-term) observations of nature. Do what makes you happy while contributing invaluable data to conservation science and management efforts.
